The Countdown to Making Spirits Bright 2023 has begun!








Making Spirits Bright festivities begin on the first weekend in December!

Join us for the annual holiday parade, and WOU tree lighting, Main Street Park holiday light displays and our first annual Monmouth Merry Market!

Or check out the activities that are happening all season long, including our annual light display at Main Street Park!

Schedule of Events

Friday December 1st
Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting!

5:30pm –Cocoa and Cider sponsored by Alumni relations next to the Sequoia tree

Free WOU swag will be given away on a first-come-first-serve basis.

6pm: Holiday Light Parade and WOU’s Annual Tree Lighting

Celebrate the beginning of the holiday season on WOU’s campus with their 55th annual tree lighting and light parade! Enjoy Cocoa and Cider sponsored by Alumni relations next to the Sequoia tree while listening to guest speakers, celebrating essay contest winners, and watching the magnificent Tree lighting.

7:30 – 9pm: Holiday Activities in the Werner University Center

Come see Santa in the Werner University Center! And while you’re there hang out and enjoy more holiday activities including holiday cookie decorating, buy Mexican Hot Chocolate and Pan Dulce from WOU’s own Kappa Delta Chi, and more!

7:30 – 9pm: Walk through the “Julio Marin Aleman that audacity of identity + color” in Cannon Gallery in Campbell Hall

Saturday, December 2nd
Monmouth’s Merry Market

Take a photo with our special mysterious guest. While you’re enjoying the festivities, be sure to participate in Monmouth’s Winter BINGO.

8:30-10:30am: Friends of the Senior Center Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

Holiday Book Sale at the Monmouth Public Library

10am-12pm: The West of Us – Acapella Carolers

10am-3pm: Monmouth Merry Market

Your favorite businesses will be hosting exclusive vendors or specials during the market.

Pick up a map of the day’s festivities, 2023 Making Spirits Bright stickers, and more! ***Special Making Spirits Bright keepsake ornaments are available at the Informattion Table at Prisms Gallery (215 Main St. E) for those who spend more than $10, while supplies last. Please bring your receipts as proof of purchase. ***

Looking for a fun activity for you children? Ash Creek Arts Center will be at Prisms gallery during the Merry Market hosting a craft for kids.

We’re very excited to announce the 2nd annual Monmouth Merry Market will be held on December 2nd from 10am-3pm in Downtown Monmouth! Last year’s event drew larger than expected crowds and vendors reported excellent sales that day. We’re looking forward to another successful event this year with live entertainment, arts and craft activities and more.
